MILWAUKEE — The American Academy of Emergency Medicine Resident & Student Association (AAEM/RSA) announces the election results for the 2017-2018 AAEM/RSA board of directors and medical student council. Terms will take effect mid May 2017, and run through May 2018.
AAEM/RSA announces that Ashely Alker, MD MSc, was elected president; Mike Wilk, MD, was elected vice president; Michael Hight, DO, was elected secretary-treasurer; and Elaine Holtzman Brown, MD, Jessica Fujimoto, MD, Cara Kanter, MD, Fred Kency, MD, Moiz Qureshi, and Jack Storey, MD, were elected to one-year terms as at-large board members. Mary Haas, MD, will continue on the board as immediate past president.
Dr. Alker is a resident at the University of California, San Diego; Dr. Wilk is a resident at Brown EM; Dr. Hight is a resident at the Naval Medical Center San Diego; Dr. Holtzman Brown is a resident at the University of Mississippi Medical Center; Dr. Fujimoto is a resident at Temple University; Dr. Kanter is a resident at Temple University; Dr. Kency is a resident at the University of Mississippi Medical Center; Mr. Qureshi has matched at Penn State; and Dr. Storey is a resident at the University of California, San Diego.
AAEM/RSA would also like to announce the results for the medical student council election. Christopher Ryba was elected to serve as the AAEM/RSA medical student council president, a position which also serves on the AAEM/RSA board of directors. Matthew Chapman was elected vice president, Kaitlin Parks was elected Midwest regional representative, Richa Manglokar was elected Northeastern regional representative, Natalie Cain was elected Southern regional representative, and Sasha Hallett was re-elected Western regional representative. Alexander Rahnema was elected as an ex-officio international representative. These positions are all one-year terms.
Mr. Ryba is a student at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine; Mr. Chapman is a student at the University of Michigan Medical School; Ms. Parks is a student at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences; Ms. Mangolkar is a student at the University of Maryland School of Medicine; Ms. Cain is a student at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine; Ms. Hallett is a student at Midwestern University – AZCOM; and Mr. Rahnema is a student at the University of Queensland Ochsner Clinical School.
