Road to Match Mentorship

Navigating the Match can be daunting, especially on your own! Medical schools often have a limited number of mentors, leaving students to rely on other students to answer questions and find support. For EM Bound IMG and DO students, finding mentors in emergency medicine can be even more challenging.

Our goal is to connect medical students who plan on entering the 2024 Match cycle with mentors who have taken a similar path in emergency medicine to provide 1:1 support during this time. Whether it's helping with certain aspects of the application or sharing interview tips, a mentor’s guidance can help them stand out from the crowd and remind them that they are not alone in this process.

Applications for mentees and mentors are now closed. You will receive your match in February and can begin to work with them over the next year.

Eligibility

Mentees

• Medical students finishing their 3rd year who are planning on applying to the 2024 Match Cycle
• Open to any AAEM/RSA student member
• DO and IMG students are strongly encouraged to apply

Mentors

• Residents or attendings willing to commit to at least one mentorship term and one mentee
• Recently graduated residents are strongly encouraged to apply

Expectations for Mentees & Mentors

• Attend the initial Zoom orientation session for the program
• Set the frequency of meetings over Zoom (suggested: at least once a month)
• In the initial meeting, determine the frequency of meetings between mentor/mentee
• Submit evaluation at the halfway point and at end of year
