This mentorship fund was created to allow current medical students the opportunity to have a mentoring session with an emergency medicine resident over a low-stakes cup of coffee.
Any AAEM/RSA medical student is eligible to apply. Medical students and their mentors may choose their preferred meet-up format, whether that be in-person or virtual. After a student’s request has been received and reviewed, the funds will be provided via an e-gift card (Starbucks unless otherwise specified and available electronically).
Participating students will be required to complete a short reflection survey following their mentoring session. Failure to do so would make them ineligible for funding for a second mentoring session.
Emergency medicine has been increasing in popularity as the years go on and the process can be quite overwhelming as a medical student. This fund allows us to support mentorship to students on the road to becoming an emergency medicine physician.
