As a Delegate, you represent your institution — helping shape national initiatives, advocate for trainees, and build your professional network within emergency medicine.

Joining the Cabinet of Delegates is an opportunity to:
- Represent your program’s residents and students at the national level
- Strengthen your leadership, communication, and advocacy skills
- Stay informed on AAEM/RSA programs, policy updates, and events
- Build connections with peers, mentors, and leaders in emergency medicine
- Contribute directly to the future of our specialty
Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison between your program and AAEM/RSA leadership
- Share updates, opportunities, and resources with your peers
- Provide feedback and insights from your institution to help shape AAEM/RSA initiatives
- Promote membership and engagement among residents and students
- Assist with local or regional events and advocacy efforts
- Designate a successor before graduation to ensure continuity
Eligibility
To serve as a Delegate, you must:
- Be an active AAEM/RSA member
- Represent an accredited emergency medicine residency or medical school program
- Obtain approval from your program director or student leadership
How to Apply
To serve as a Delegate, you must be an active AAEM/RSA member.
JOIN NOWFollow these steps to apply:
1. Confirm your eligibility
Talk with your residency program, medical school, or EMIG leadership to confirm that you can represent your program for the current term. Only one Delegate per program may serve each year. Applications may be denied if another Delegate has already been identified and submitted by your program.
2. Complete the online application
Submit your name, contact information, and program details through the online form.
3. Await confirmation
Delegates will be confirmed by July 1, with terms running from July 1 – June 30 each year.
4. Request membership support (if needed)
If your program funds delegate membership, you may request a support letter for your dues by emailing us.
