AAEM/RSA opposes the supervision and creation of residencies by contract management groups with lay ownership. AAEM/RSA deems the education of residents to be a matter of the highest importance and the foundation of medical education in the United States. This requires an environment free of the conflict of interest created between CMGs’ fiduciary responsibility to shareholders and the educational mission of a residency program.
